Sometimes it's really hard to actually "treasure" a day. Take today for example...today is a day I would rather just forget. But if I forget today, then I forget how much God blessed me today in spite of the circumstances. Let me set the scene. When the sun came up this morning, oh, wait, the sun didn't come up this morning because it was pouring down rain. After breakfast and a quick workout on my "new-to-me" elliptical machine, Malia and I drove out to Irving to a friend's house. We were on a busy street and just a few minutes away from her home when my car just decided to quit working. I was at a traffic light and the car just would not go and I was pretty sure it was the transmission, having experienced these issues before. So I'm sitting here trying to figure out what to do when a police officer "coincidentally" came up behind me. Praise the Lord he "just
happened" to be there at that time. So he had me put the car in neutral so he could push my car (with his car--I was surprised by this) onto a side street. By this time I'm crying because, well, I don't know why. That's just what I do when I don't know what else to do/stressed, etc! He asks me if everything is okay and if I'd be able to get help. I assured him I would and he went on his way. So I call my friend and she said she'll just come get us. We hang up and I call
Buzzy. As I'm talking to
Buzzy I realize,
hmm...I didn't even tell Pam exactly where I was. I thought she'd call me if she couldn't find me. So meanwhile
Buzzy calls the dealership where we got our car to get us a tow truck, etc. Then I call my mom and tell her she's going to have to come out and rescue us and take us to the dealership so I can get my rental car. Then I get a call from Pam. She was back at home because she forgot to bring her cell phone and she couldn't find me. This time I actually give her directions to where I was and she was there quickly. So Pam and I begun the fun task of changing out
car seats in the pouring rain. Meanwhile, the tow truck arrives and I'm doing my best drowned rat impression. Wow, this story is getting really long, so let's just say that I'm blessed with many awesome things (and this is not an all-inclusive list, just a sample): God's protection and provision, awesome friend, mom, and husband, a cell phone with a fully-charged battery (because the previous day it died while I was out), the foresight to buy the extended warranty which includes the rental and means we only have to spend $50 for the whole new transmission we found out we need. Oh, and the rental is nicer and roomier than my vehicle so we're telling them to just take their time! So yes, there are so many parts to this day I'd just as soon not treasure but there are so many good things that I can treasure about this day...the day that the Lord has made! I will rejoice and be glad in it!
